Nominations for NTA Awards

Listed below are the criteria for internal NTA awards.  To nominate individual(s) for the NTA Technical Achiever Award, use this form.  Note that all nominations are due annually by August 1.

DR. A. T. WEATHERS TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

To honor and recognize an individual member of NTA who has distinguished themselves recently by significant technical achievements or contributions.  No time frame is placed on the achievement or contribution.  Technical contributions to the professions or disciplines are the sole consideration for this Award.  The technical contribution should be accepted and recognized by professional peers.  Benefits accruing to the lay community enhance the significance of the Award.

SNTA STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

To honor and recognize an individual student member of NTA who has distinguished themselves recently by significant technical achievements or contributions.  This Award is based on technical papers or projects where the student member has made sole or significant contributions to the paper(s) or project(s) during the course of study at the secondary of college level.  The technical merits of the involvement are the sole consideration for this Award.  Benefits accruing to the lay community enhance the significance of the Award.

CHARLES S. DUKE OUTSTANDING BRANCH AWARD

To honor notable performance by an NTA Branch, working as a unit rather than by accomplishments of an individual member.  This Award is intended to reinforce and demonstrate NTA belief that consistent, intellectually stimulating Branch activity is fundamental to a progressive, viable NTA organization.

FRED C. DOWNS SPECIAL EVENT AWARD

In recognition of a Chapter which substantially enhances its prestige and importance in the community by a special event.  The Special Event shall be unusually great benefit to the membership.  It shall give them an opportunity to display their talents, promote the objectives and interests of the NTA and contribute to the improvement of the community and the Chapter’s recognition in the community.  Regional Directors shall review regional nominations and will take into consideration such factors as originality of program, pertinence to the aims and objectives of NTA, participation by the members of the Chapters, effectiveness and value to the Chapter, profession and/or community.

AUGUSTUS D. WATSON OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AWARD

To honor notable performance by an NTA Chapter, working as a unit rather than by accomplishments of an individual member.  This Award is intended to reinforce and demonstrate NTA belief that consistent, intellectually stimulating Chapter activity is fundamental to a progressive, viable NTA organization.

SAMUEL R. CHEEVERS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

To give unique recognition to an individual member of NTA who has distinguished themselves over a period of years by service to NTA.  The recipient shall be a member in good standing and has shown particular dedication to the interests of NTA, by making significant and continuing contributions over a period of years.  The period of years stipulated is interpreted as the order of a minimum of 3 years of identifiable participation, not necessarily consecutive.  A short concentrated spurt of activity, regardless of its value, is insufficient to establish eligibility.  Technical contributions or contributions purely to the professions or disciplines are not a consideration in this award.
