Originally established by African-Americans to confront discrimination and unequal opportunity, NTA today is an organization for all minorities, women, and youth pursuing technical careers. Today nearly half of NTA professional members are women, a testimony to the work throughout its years as an icon for excellence and diversity in America.

New & Renewing Memberships | Benefits & Types
Any Member, Associate, or Student, not in arrears, paying the sum of $1350.00, shall become a Life Fellow and shall be exempt from further payment of dues, and shall have voting rights according to their qualifications for Member or Associate. These persons shall receive an engraved certificate bearing the title Life Fellow. The Life Fellow shall receive a life long non‑deductible subscription to The JOURNAL of the NTA.
Persons who (1) have graduated from an accredited school of college‑grade in the field of Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, the Natural Sciences, and other technological areas, or (2) have equivalent training. Members are entitled to hold office, have all membership voting privileges, and their dues shall include a non‑deductible subscription to The JOURNAL of the NTA. Dues shall be established by the Board of Directors.
Persons who lack the qualifications for Member class, but (1) are engaged in technical work, and/or (2) possess interest in the goals and objectives of the Organization. Associate class have voting privileges but may not hold elective office in the Organization. Dues include a non-deductible subscription to The Journal of the NTA.
Persons aged 55 or older who qualify for any individual membership class where dues are assessed. Dues for the Trailblazer class shall reflect a 20% discount off the normal dues assessment for that class. Dues include a non-deductible subscription to The Journal of the NTA.
Persons who are engaged in college level studies in a technical field. Student applications must have the recommendation of at least one (1) instructor. Student class may vote only for the Student elective office. Dues include a non‑deductible subscription to The JOURNAL of the NTA. Students become Members upon graduation, with no additional dues required until the next fiscal year. Dues shall be established by the Board of Directors.
Institutional Membership has one voting right per institution with members that qualify under the Professional Membership guidelines. Others, as part of the institution, would qualify for membership at regular member prices under the institution name but would not have a vote and would not be considered as individual members for holding office.
